3.a) A short history of dishes served by Vegas Kitchen:
Since
hamburgers were first invented by the Americans in the 19th or 20th
early century, it has been a favorite fast-food in many countries as well as
Malaysia. Burgers today have gained popularity even in small towns. Therefore, Vegas
Kitchen, Kampar was our choice. This stall opened since January 2010. It has
served a variety of yummilicious American western food such as Obama Fish and
Chicken Burger, Vegas Full House Burger, Vampire Chaster Burger, and many more.
However, Full House Burger was opted as it was rated as the most popular burger
in Vegas. Full House Burger has roughly a 7-inches thick of beef patty, a piece
of grilled chicken, two slices of ham and cheese, lots of lettuce, capsicums,
tomatoes, fried egg on the most top layer and a dollop of tangy Balognese sauce
on the side. Not to forget, the buns were grilled, smothered with margarine.
3.a) A short history of dishes and drinks served by Simple Coffee:
Simple Coffee is opted as it is an
ordinary outer-appearance café and is well-known of its lovely coffee that
emits abundant of alluring aroma. Simple Coffee commenced since October 2013. It
has also served delectable food as well ranging from pasta, pastry and brewed
coffee and tea. Among the lists of menu, turkey ham is the most favored by
customers as it was rated 10 out of 10 stars. It is prepared using freshly baked
croissant, packed with slices of turkey ham, pieces of cheese, together with
fresh vegetables, some spices, peppers and egg. It is simply stunning and
tasty.
There were indeed a few feedback given by Eliin Koh and Grace Ong. Eliin mentioned that the burger was really mouth watering especially for the Full House Burger. Indeed it was a very tall burger, beyond edible. Instead of using normal patties, a real, fresh, sweet and juicy chicken chop was placed in between of the layers. Apart from that, Grace Ong also said that the food was reasonably-priced as well. It was well worth the money spent. Besides, Vegas Kitchen appears to be of higher stature, in terms of overall aesthetic values, ambiance and the array of food served.
Kelly Lam loved the turkey ham a lot. She expressed that it was worth to try for those meat lover. It is packed with pieces of cheese, slices of juicy turkey ham, some peppers, and sprinkled spices in a croissant. Pastry with a cozy and warm environment was an utter combination. No doubt it was a good alternative to the food from ‘mamak’ stalls at night, remarked by a customer.

Vegas Full House Burger
l Consists of a monstrous of a calorie-laden horror, cheese and ham, featuring two patties (a beef and a chicken), a fried egg and loaded with greens (vegetables) to balance out the guilt in a most futile manner.
l The burger is reasonably priced at RM11.50.
l The burger is huge, is considered as an extraordinary food in Kampar as it is rarely seen in other shops.
l Mouth-watering and fulfill one’s stomach.

Our evaluation of these business
Are you a western
food lover? Every week must have a burger for meal at least once? As a food
enthusiast, we have the best place to introduce for you, Vegas Kitchen. Vegas
Kitchen is located in Taman Bandar Baru, Kampar, near to Grand Kampar Hotel and
students’ hostel. It operates at a strategic place because the area is
surrounded by many students and tourists. Vegas Kitchen is famous in selling
western food, especially burger. Their burger is really worth to try, because
it is really special and yummy. The overall selling price is affordable and the
food serves quite a big portion too. Besides, it is the best place for
gathering and dating, because the interior design and the environment of the
shop are simple and retro. Vegas Kitchen is considered as a successful shop,
because it is able to sustain in Kampar for a long period.
Are you a coffee
lover? If yes, we believe that Simple Coffee will be your first choice. Simple
Coffee is located in Taman Bandar Baru, Kampar, whereby is near to KTAR and
students’ hostel. Thus, students are their major customers. The operating hours
is between 10 a.m. to 1 a.m., it is convenient for students to study or even do
assignment. Moreover, the environment of this café is suitable for friends’
gathering as well. Simple Coffee mainly serves coffee along with set lunch. The
shop also sell a variety of deserts like cakes, doughnuts and muffins. The food
and beverage are delicious, as well as the price is acceptable for students. Besides,
the boss and the staffs are friendly. They always provide good customer service
to satisfy customers’ needs.
7.b) Its classification of e-commerce by the nature of the transactions or interactions:
The both Vegas Kitchen Kampar and Simple
Coffee are under a traditional brick-and-mortar organization. Brick-and-mortar organizations refer to businesses that have physical stores that you can drive to and enter physically to see, touch, and purchase merchandise. It means that they are doing
their primary business offline and only have a purely physical shop to sell
their physical products by means of physical agents.
The both shops (Vegas Kitchen Kampar and
Simple Coffee) do not sell their products online or buy their material online.
However, they are selling their products directly to their customers which can
consider as the business-to-consumer (B2C) selling. Both shops applied direct
face-to-face transactions and interactions with their consumers. This is because
consumers will communicate directly with the waiters. Besides, the receipt and
making of payment is done on the spot physically when customers acquired their
goods.
7.c) Its business models:
The business model defined as the rationale of how an organization captures, creates and delivers value. It also known as the method of doing business by which a company can generate revenue to sustain itself.
The
business model used by the both Vegas Kitchen Kampar and Simple Coffee were
revenue model and viral marketing model. The revenue model describes of how a
business will earn income, produce profits and generate a higher than average
return on investment. In order to generate more revenue, the
owners of the shops had spent their time in designing their shops and create
their own foods recipe to serve their customers.
On the other hand, the viral marketing model is any marketing technique that uses Web-based word-of-mouth advertising through e-mail and social networks such as Facebook. It enables users to pass on a marketing message to other sites or users, creating a potentially exponential growth in the message's visibility and effect.

Both shops are having their own homepage in Facebook and it allows people to comment, feedback, like and share their page. When the consumers favor a dish or food, it will be shared publicly to other Facebook users. This will eventually increase the popularity of the shop. Interested parties will go to the physical shops to consume their products, and this is how they can generate their revenue.
7.d) Basic approach used in marketing and advertising:
The shops chosen are Vegas Kitchen and Simple Coffee which are located at Kampar, Ipoh. For Vegas Kitchen Kampar, they have created a Facebook page. It enables customers to post pictures and comments in the page after consuming the food. Besides, some customers employ Instagram to post their comment. As a result, it can indirectly advertise their shops through the sharing from customers.
Besides, blog has been used by Vegas Kitchen to promote their products. They will share their food pictures and give some recommendations for customers to try their shops. Viral marketing model refers to any technique like word of mouth advertising via social network like Facebook. Word of mouth (WOM) advertising can help them increase the business’s reputation and sales.
For Simple Coffee, it also uses the Facebook page to promote their products. This indirectly stimulates the business by posting pictures and address of the shop in Facebook page. WOM is adopted in the business. WOM is the unpaid spread of positive feedback from one person to another. The customers will always recommend to others when this stall provides good services.
Moreover, Simple Coffee has created blog to advertise their products to entice more customers. In the blog, it allows customers to comment or suggest new ideas for better improvement of the shop.
For Vegas Kitchen and Simple Coffee, both are under brick-and-mortar organization which have a physical shop to conduct their businesses. Both of the stores do not have online selling to provide goods and services to their customers. However, they are employing business-to-consumer (B2C) selling to serve customers in the shops.
Therefore, it is recommended that the business can introduce online selling to provide goods and services to customers via social network such as Facebook. This can benefit the owners to gain more profit and subsequently increase its business reputation. There are many advantages for owners if they sell their products via social network like Facebook. The online sellers can save set-up and operating costs when conduct business via online. For instance, online sellers do not have to pay rental, electricity and water bill every month.
Moreover, it is recommended that Vegas Kitchen and Simple Coffee to expand their businesses globally in other states and other countries, not only locally. Vegas Kitchen and Simple Coffee are still at its infant stage as it is currently opened in small towns. Therefore, both shops should have drastic advertisements of their food and drinks served not only through Facebook, but also other social medias like Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, newspapers, brochures, banners and billboard advertisement.
